Curious sharks and dolphins through the keys; wide, empty expanses far offshore; fish jumping head-high and surprised alligators along the Intracoastal waterway. Spectacular sunrises. Now that the high winds are taking a rest, it’s brutally hot on the water.
Interested fishing boat and mega yacht captains along the way call out, “You’re doing what? How many miles? Wow! Good luck, man.” Lots of “Attaboys,” and “Great cause,” mixed with an occasional, “You must be nuts.”

From the start in Key West, Tom will soon have paddled the entire Florida coast. In a few more days, he’ll be paddling into Georgia waters. To follow Tom’s daily progress, see photos taken along the way, and post messages for Tom and the team, go to the Plastic Free Ocean Facebook page here.
