In addition to the tragic effects on wildlife, dangerous and excessive uses of disposable plastics, and the breakdown byproducts of water-borne plastic waste have been directly related to a variety of cancers, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, gestational problems, premature maturation in children, feminization of boys, neurological disorders, even autism and more.

Unlike many other causes, the problems with plastics are 100% caused by human action and can be 100% resolved by human action. This is a cause that is immediately and directly actionable. Plastic Free Ocean is a 501(c)3 public charity that relies on personal contributions.

Your help is needed to support effective action to address the threats - build awareness, educate consumers and businesses about safe alternatives and practices, pursue smart and effective political action, and sponsor and coordinate the research and activities required to clean up recoverable plastic waste that already pollutes ocean and tidal environments worldwide.

Up To The Minute

Curious sharks and dolphins through the keys; wide, empty expanses far offshore; fish jumping head-high and surprised alligators along the Intracoastal waterway. Spectacular sunrises. Now that the high winds are taking a rest, it’s brutally hot on the water.

Interested fishing boat and mega yacht captains along the way call out, “You’re doing what? How many miles? Wow! Good luck, man.” Lots of “Attaboys,” and “Great cause,” mixed with an occasional, “You must be nuts.”
